The Memory Recovery Project — NCCU History Interactive Exhibition

Since late 2022, the university's history exhibition has followed a "distributed, blend of real and virtual" approach, aiming to make NCCU's history feel present everywhere across campus. This edition includes a "scene-based clue wall" and issue #2023 of the Ziqiang Journal, built as an immersive experience. The project uses AI to animate photos of alumni, letting them narrate NCCU's story themselves through an "interactive phone booth" where visitors can listen to pieces of the school's history. When the phone rings, pick it up — can you guess which figure from the school's past is calling? Alumni even lent their actual voices: pick up the public phone on the wall and singer Elva Hsiao walks you through a live report from the night Siwei Hall caught fire. The exhibition also features the Ziqiang Journal, which for nearly half a century served as the bridge between the school and its students — with the whole exhibition's core value being continuity: looking back at the past while looking ahead to the next century.
