Tower of Roses — 360° Panoramic Projection

BRIEFING

Tower of Roses blends a person, a virtual natural scene and an indoor space into one connected, interactive whole. Made in collaboration with artist Liu Chen-Hsiu, the piece came together through everything from concept discussions to working out the technical feasibility of a full 360° projection. The roses on screen climb and bloom the longer a visitor stands at the center, with the visuals and sound shifting along the way — until the flowers eventually wilt. Visitors can choose to freeze the piece at any stage, directly shaping how it looks. Onlookers, meanwhile, watch from a third-person view as the person at the center interacts with the imagery, making that person part of the exhibition itself.
